Founder Partner and principle Director of Nirvana. Varma as everyone knows him is completely consumed by craft. He is a keen observer of people and their quirks. Varma is excited by a good challenge and becomes childlike when something excites him. He loves to hear a script narrated to him as opposed to him reading it by himself. He is keenly observing gestures of the hand, dilation of the eyes and listening to inflections in the voice as he soaks it all in and and starts to imagine scenarios. Simple storytelling and working with actors to extract Performances and bring nuances alive keeps him restless and sleepless. For someone who believes in talk less and do more, he speaks eloquently through his films. His work takes him across the world but he is happiest at home!.
Kishore’s approach to film is: solve for what is needed. Prepare with diligence, rear with care and then leave room for magic. Kishore possesses first hand insight into the minds and culture of a generation on the rise . He has a pulse on what is contemporary in the industry and technology. He breaks confines. Even though he is a shy person, he brings out the best in debutants and celebrities alike. He is a fan of works created by Wes Anderson and Gonzalez Inarritu. You will find Kishore behind a gaming console or playing with his rescued dogs and tending to their needs when not behind the camera.
Rajiv Rao has spent over two decades in advertising. Most of it was spent in Ogilvy where he created some of the most memorable and award- winning campaigns in Indian advertising. The Vodafone pug and Zoozoos are some of his most successful and longest running campaigns. While at Ogilvy, he directed a few ad films and realized he loves the art and craft of storytelling. Rajiv feels that the idea and script should define the style and treatment of a film. He moved to film making full time in October 2017. And now he looks forward to discussing film ideas and holding meetings alongside his 3 cats.
After several years as a brilliant assistant director to Prakash Varma, Swaroop has earned his place under the sun. Swaroop’s love for storytelling bloomed while doing theater in school and in his early days as a copy writer. He has a knack for finding beauty in the most unassuming things, and humour in the mundane. With a keen eye for detail and a love for the medium, Swaroop has grown to be a promising new-age director. Swaroop hopes to bring his fresh perspective to every film, while drawing from his years of experience with veterans of the industry. Swaroop is raring to go, and is ready for any kind of creative challenge. We believe he is going to be great at telling beautiful stories with a focus on human connections. Founder partner, executive producer and master juggler. Sneha is the backbone of Nirvana. She believes in the ability and strength of her team and balances work ethics with productivity. She reciprocates to the advertising industry’s innumerable surprises with calm perspective. Giving voice to the production scenario in India, Sneha has been on the Film craft Jury panels of Cannes Lions , Spikes Asia , Young Spikes and the Ciclope Advertising Festival . She has also shared her ideas at Tedx India including multiple forums and institutions. She is a firm believer in the power of pause in one’s life.
Marjorie has put in a good number of years into film and that explains why the whole world knows her. Apart from commercials and music television she has worked on regional and mainstream Hindi feature films. Marj is not intimidated by budget or timeline or scale of work. Great with people, her motto is to do good work and in the process ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. Intern to actor, they all must be enriched in some way. Once you meet her you’ll forever remember her.
Youngest in the fold , Nandini comes in from her background in finance and film , and brings pure diligence and hard work to the mix. She is earnest and a keen learner . Nandini has her ears to the ground and is willing to bring everyone of value on board to solve the problem . She sees the big picture and is very aware of the micro details involved in making the whole machinery move forward. An asset to the team , we have no doubt Nandini has a bright future in producing quality work .
